Aloha!
My name is Ángel Mejuto and I grew up in the north of Spain surrounded by its woods and seaside. Today I live in the historical city of Santiago de Compostela.
I first started developing my wood craftsmanship at the age of 18 when I was a sculptor’s apprentice. From that day on, wood crafting and sculpting have been my greatest passion. I later began to work as a carpenter and furniture restorer acquiring skills in all areas of the trade and gaining experience. One day I eventually decided to apply all the professional knowledge in something I had always desired to do – creating my wooden sculptures. Using selected pieces of wood from European forests and applying ancient crafting and finishing techniques result in original sculptures with a unique and beautiful grain pattern on each one of them.
And that’s what I do nowadays: small wooden sculptures inspired by the mythical Volkswagen Classics portraying a way of life, a passion for nature, adventure and fun.
When I’m not in my workshop I travel around in my Volkswagen Combi in which I installed a bed so I can enjoy my other great passion – discovering new beaches. I also love driving my very first car, a 1974 Volkswagen Superbeetle which I keep in perfect condition.
